Louis XVI Ormolu and Bronze Cartel Wall Clock ~ French - Circa 1900 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A superb cartel wall clock in the style of Louis XVI by Samuel Marti. It as formed as a round bronze body housing the movement suspended from an ormolu ribbon swag with a bow crest. The bronze body is decorated with stylised acanthus a ribbon swag.

The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with beautifully fretted and incised gilt brass hands. It is signed for the retailer "Charbonnet" of the ancient Nimes in the south of France.

The French movement is of high quality and is by Samuel Marti. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is an old replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video below to hear the bell and watch the clock running.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. Bronze has a lovely original patina. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.
