9F on Shed by Warwick Richardson
~~ Excellent condition, ready to hang ~~
A dramatic and beautifully lit railway scene by Warwick Richardson, signed and dated 1997 in the lower right. The painting captures the British Railways Standard Class 9F No. 92002, one of the most powerful post-war freight locomotives, positioned prominently on a turntable inside a steam engine roundhouse.
Set beneath a vaulted depot roof, the artwork conveys a powerful sense of atmosphere: shafts of light break through overhead windows, steam swirls beneath steel girders, and two railwaymen stand in quiet conversation beside the pit. The setting evokes the grit and grandeur of mid-20th-century British rail, frozen in a rare moment of calm and reverence.
In lovely condition, a few marks to the frame. Framed and ready to hang. Signed and dated.
