The bronze body is adorned with a laurel wreath motif, symbolising honour and achievement, and is completed by a laurel crest at the base of the ribbon. The porcelain enamel dial on copper is set behind a convex glass, and features fretted and incised gilt brass hands. At the heart of the piece is a high-quality French movement by Samuel Marti, fully overhauled and in excellent clean and running condition. It comes complete with its original pendulum, runs for eight days, and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. A video is available to hear the bell and see the clock in operation, please see below. The case is in superb condition, with the original gilding remaining beautifully bright and clean, showing only minimal wear or discolouration. The bronze retains a rich, original patina with slight, age-appropriate wear and a few small surface marks. The dial is excellent, free from damage, and the original convex glass has only a slight mark, an original manufacturing fault. This is a wonderfully decorative and mechanically sound timepiece—both a functional clock and a fine decorative object.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
