The subject of the clock is probably based on a few influences of the mid 18th century, the painting 'Children floating on the clouds' by Johann Heinrich Tishbein the Elder and also the putti paintings of François Boucher.

The dial is porcelain enamel on copper with finely fretted gilt hands. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is of high quality, it has a platform escapement and therefore doesn't require any setting up. It and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker including fitment of a new platform for reliable running. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. There is some wear/distortion to the ring on the putto's ribbon. The marble is in good condition with a few nibbles to the edges and some staining. The dial is also in good condition with some chipping / cracks next to the left hand winding hole.

Mark of the bronze founder Vrai Bronze B.D, Paris, on the movement backplate.

Complete with bell and a suitable key. Full instructions supplied if required.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
