The case is hexagonal in shape with beveled glass to the rear 3 sides to allow the movement to be seen and the pendulum gently swinging within. The dial is also porcelain decorated with a putto with a Champlevé enamel surround. The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original, ormolu with silver steel rod and inset with porcelain. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a gong. Click the video clip below to hear the gong and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with only minor marks and discolouration. The porcelain is also excellent with no damage just some very slight wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration mainly to the dial. Champlevé enamel is in good condition with some slight losses in places. The front glass has some light scratches and the right hand glass panel has small chip to the edge which is not noticable.
Complete with original pendulum and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
