Fine Ormolu Rococo Clock by Henry Lepaute (1800-1885) ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A large and very fine quality ormolu Rococo clock by Henry Lepaute of Paris, part of the illustrious Lepaute clockmaking dynesty. Formed in finely gilded bronze, sinuous scrolls and curves form the case with delicately modeled floral and foliate decoration. Fabric backed sound frets are mounted between. Exceptionally well modelled and finished.

The large dial is porcelain enamel on copper with beautifully made gilded hands. the rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is by Henry Lepaute and is of high quality. It is fitted in pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with some slight wear and disoclouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. We have replaced the fabric with fresh.
