A stunning and large original antique French ormolu (gilded bronze) clock featuring a dolphin to the base. It is of the most beautiful Rococo style, asymmetric waisted case decorated with 'C' scrolls, acanthus leaves and floral swags. To the top is a large elaborate urn with acanthus handles and floral finial. The dolphin sits in a shell motif sculptured into the base and is a most unusual and attractive feature. This is a stunning, very large clock with a superb original gild.

The beautiful, large enamel dial is lettered with separate minute and hour rings and is complete with the original finely cut gilt brass hands. The heavy Rococo bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and has the clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate. We have fully overhauled and tested it to ensure you have trouble free running. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. You can hear the clock run and strike in the video below.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just small chip next to the right hand winding hole. A beautiful clock to add to your collection.
