Cloisonné Enamel Mounted Antique French Ormolu Clock Set

A rare and stunning original antique French clock set. It is beautifully designed in the Rococo style and features exquisite cloisonné or champlevé enamel work to both the clock and candelabrum. It has an elegant waisted, asymmetric case, decorated with flowing scrolls and acanthus. To the top is a large, elaborate Rococo finial. Candelabra are conforming in style with bases mounted with enamel and surmounted by four lights.

The dial is also champlevé enamel to the centre with a cream enamel ring for the numerals.

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The enamel work is also excellent with no damage or losses. The dial is in excellent condition with just some faint hairlining. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
