O. Ruffony (d. 1925) was an Italian sculptor working around the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. He is listed in the Artprice database. The piece is signed with an impressed mark to the figure and a plaque is mounted on the front of the case with the artist and the title of the piece. The dial is enamel on copper with a delicate floral swag. The piece is modelled in the round and so would display beautifully in the centre of a room. The French movement is by Fritz Marti and has the makers mark on the movement backplate. It is of the makers usual high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running! Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear on the high spots and a few minor areas of discolouration or marks to the original patination. One vase has a small stress crack near the edge of the top (see close up picture below) and some dents / holes in the liner (can't be seen with the lid on). Marble is in excellent condition with just some minor nibbles on the edges. It has a good polish. Dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. A stunning clock set, a centrepiece for your room and collection!
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employee two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free. |
