Japy Freres Antique French Four Glass Crystal Regulator J. E. Caldwell of Philadelphia. ~ French - Circa 1910 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A beautifully chic original antique French four glass crystal regulator by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is made of gilt brass with bevelled glass panels, allowing the movement and mercury compensated pendulum to be seen. It was retailed by the well known Jeweler J. E. Caldwell of Philadelphia.

The dial is enamel on copper with finely fretted blued steel hands.

The French movement is of the Japy Freres usual high quality and has the 'Grande Medaille D' Honneur' mark on the movement backplate along with that of J. E. Caldwell. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Mercury temperature compensating pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a coiled gong. Click the video clip below to hear the gong and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with just some slight wear, discolouration and light surface scratches in places. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. The glass is also excellent, there is just a slight nibble to the right hand bottom corner of the rear door.
