Antique Boudoir Clock - French Gilt Brass Louis XVI by A.D. Mougin

A beautiful and nicely sized antique French boudoir clock. It is very well modelled in gilded brass, in the Louis XVI style, classically architectural and decorated with flowing foliage and flowers. The front of the clock is fretted which allows a glimpse of the pendulum swinging inside the case. The original gilding is beautifully bright and clean.

The dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and original finely fretted blued steel hands.

The French movement is of high quality and has the A. D. Mougin clockmaker's mark on the back plate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with just a faint hairline near the right hand winding hole. The clock makes a stunning display as you can see below.
