The dial is enamel in copper, lettered in blue with separate minute and hour rings. The finely fretted gilt brass hands are original and the hobnail bezel is fitted with convex glass. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.
The French movement is of excellent quality and is the early design with silk suspension and outside hammer stop spring. The backplate of the movement is marked "M" for the retailer and unusually the case is also marked with the same "M". Movement is in excellent, clean and running condition having been fully cleaned and serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running.
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. One candelabra branch has a small piece of acanthus missing which does not detract. There are some stress cracks to some of the castings, particularly the candelabra arms and also some of the applied decoration to the clock but these are still strong and sound. The dial is also in excellent condition, there is some restoration, particularly to the bezel, it is the original bezel with matching serial number. Porcelain is also excellent with just some slight wear to the over glaze gilt decoration. A lovely early clock set to add to your collection.

Retailers mark "M" on the movement backplate and on the inside of the case.
Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
