Japy Freres Louis XVI Cartel Wall Clock

A stunning original antique Louis XVI style cartel clock by Japy Freres. It is beautifully made in gilt brass with a lovely original, clean and bright finish. The clock celebrates victory with a large finial of a quiver of arrows draped in a swag of ribbons and laurel with flaming finials to each side. Below the dial is a rams head and pineapple finial to the bottom. The large dial is enamel on copper with the Japy Freres mark to the centre and finely fretted gilt brass hands. 

The Japy Freres French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. The Japy Freres mark is on the backplate. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage, there are some small marks which we think are original. A beautiful looking clock for your collection!
