Huge Antique French Cartel Wall Clock ~ Dragons ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A magnificent gilded bronze cartel clock featuring two dragons standing guard above the clock. It is baroque in style with mythical creatures, stylised foliage and a bell hung from an arch to the top. It is almost 32 inches in height and is profusely and boldly decorated, dragons are particularly well modelled. The gilding is in very good original condition.

The dial is enamel on copper with a heavy cast brass centre. It is complete with original blued steel hands and heavy bezel with convex glass.

The French movement is of the highest quality and is by Vincenti. The clockmakers mark is on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. It is the larger plate version of the Pendule de Paris movement with dead beat pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a large sonorous bell. Click the video clip below to see the clock running and striking.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. 

 
Vincenti et ie Clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate and the mark of the bronze founder Vrai Bronze B.D. on the case.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
