Stunning Large French Gothic Clock - Japy Freres

A large and stunning antique Japy Freres French clock set of Gothic design. The clock is modelled as a ruin, draped with floral swags and scrolls. The front of the clock has a beautifully modelled lions mask below the dial. Dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre. The clock is very well detailed and cast heavily in brass - a truly stunning display at nearly 2 feet in height!

French movement is by Japy Freres and is of excellent quality and runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell and is in excellent, clean and running condition - it is complete with the original bell and a pendulum. The Japy Freres trade mark is on the back plate of the movement.

Condition of the case is very good, there are no losses and the finish of the brass has mellowed to a lovely rich antique patina, with the high spots worn. The enamel dial as two very faint hairlines at the 2 and 10 o'clock positions. The back door is glass.

A stunning display at 2 feet in height!
