Large and Stunning Gilt Brass Clock with Visible Pendulum.

A very finely detailed gilt brass clock in excellent condition, much of the original gilding remains which is in lovely bright and clean condition. The style is Baroque. The clock movement is held aloft by cherubim forming the front pillars. The cherubim look back at two winged lions which are tethered. The pendulum is visible swinging below the movement between the cherubim pillars, pendulum is formed as a shield with lions rampant. Above the dial is a typical Baroque broken arch. The back of the top is fretted along with the base and the clock is beautifully detailed and well finished.

The dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre and is complete with original blued steel hands.

The French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original.  It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some slight chipping around the right hand winding hole.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
