Ormolu and Sevres Porcelain Antique French Boudoir Clock ~ Cherubs

A beautiful, early ormolu boudoir clock with Sevres style porcelain panel, dial and urn. The porcelain has a lovely 'Rose de Pompadour' ground, a delicate shade of pink. Each piece of porcelain is finely painted and bordered in over-glaze gilt decoration, the artist's signature and the clock's number are painted on the reverse of each piece, see the pictures below. The urn is painted with a delicate floral swag, the dial features a cherub and the curved panel beneath the dial depicts a pair of cherubim. Dial is lettered in black roman numerals and has green jewel half-hour markers.

The case is very well modelled in Ormolu (gilded bronze or Bronze Dor�) and the fine chasing and finishing is excellent. It is in the shape of a drum head decorated with floral swags and 'C' scrolls in the Rococo taste.

The French movement is signed by the retail C & S and is of excellent quality. It has been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is complete with original pendulum. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell, click the movie below to see and hear the movement.

The finish of the ormolu is excellent - bright and clean. There are some minor areas of wear or discoloration. The porcelain is in excellent condition. The dial is in very good condition with just some small chipping around the winding holes and some wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration. 2 of the green jewel half-hour markers are missing.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
