Red Marble and Ormolu Portico Clock Set

A stunning antique French portico clock set, made using the most beautiful specimen red marble. It is variegated with pinks, white and oranges to stunning effect and is mounted with ormolu (fine gilded brass) which is in lovely bright and clean condition. The clock movement has a very pretty enamelled dial that is exquisitely painted with floral swags and is complete with original gilded fretted hands. The movement is supported by four columns with the original ormolu pendulum swinging beneath. Side urns are made of the same marble and are fitted with elaborate acanthus handles.

The French movement is by Société Clusienne of Cluses near the Swiss border. It is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. it is complete with its original ormolu pendulum, runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent, marble has a very good polish with no major chips or scratches, just the usual nibbles to the edges and the corners. Ormolu is also in very good condition with a bright and clean finish. Dial is in very good condition with no chips or scratches. 

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
