Antique French Rococo Cartel Wall Clock

A stunning gilt brass Rococo Cartel clock, classic Rococo asymmetrical shape with 'C' scrolls, foliage and floral swags. The dial is enamel on copper with black lettering and the original gilt brass fretted hands. The modelling is crisp and well detailed with a bright and clean gilded finish. The pendulum can just be see swinging below the dial.     

The movement is by the French maker A. D. Mougin and has their mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and working condition having been fully stripped, cleaned and tested by our clockmaker. He has also replaced the pendulum. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. You can see the movement running and striking in the video clip below.

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, there is some wear to the original gilding and some minor discolouration in places. The back cover is missing, however the back of the clock sits snugly against the wall. The dial is in very good condition with no chips or scratches. 

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
