Japy Freres Sevres porcelain and Gilt Metal Boudoir Clock.

A beautiful Japy Freres boudoir clock, gilt metal in excellent condition with exquisitely painted porcelain panels in the manner of Sevres. Porcelain has a pompadour blue ground decorated with floral swags and over glaze gilt decoration. The dial has a finely painted cupid to the centre and a harp below. The panel below the dial is very well painted with a scene of a courting couple in a country landscape.

The clock has the Japy Freres mark on the movement backplate, the case makers mark on the rear of the case and the porcelain artists signature on the rear of the dial.

The Japy Freres French movement is of the highest quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. We have replaced the pendulum with one of correct size and weight.  It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, gilding is clean and bright with just some very minor wear and there are no losses. Porcelain is also in excellent condition with no damage. There is an original firing fault to the reverse of the urn. Some of the over glaze gilt decoration has rubbed, particularly on the left hand pillar. Clock displays very well as you can see below.
