Unusual Antique French Gothic Table Clock.

A superb antique French Gothic table clock, beautifully modelled in gilt brass. It sits on a square, pierced, splayed base with the movement mounted in above. The top is fretted and sits above a fancy cornice and is surmounted by a ball and spire finial.  

The dial is brass mounted with 12 individual cartouche letters.

The French movement is of the very good quality and features pin-pallet escapement and rack striking. It has been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is in excellent, fully working condition. We have replaced the pendulum. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear, discolouration and tarnish to the original gilding. The dial is also in excellent condition with just some tiny nibbles around the cartouche edges.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
