Large Antique French Porcelain and gilt Clock Set - by A.D Mougin ~ French - Circa 1890 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ A graceful and unusual antique French clock set, as three ceramic, gilt mounted urns standing almost 2 feet tall. The porcelain is a delicate pale blue shading to a delightful blush pink, hand painted with cherubim, rose and ribbon swags. The largest urn holds the clock which has the prettiest dial painted with a cherub trying to catch a butterfly with a butterfly net. Delicately fretted brass hands and naturalistic gilt ribbon bow. Clock and candelabra all have gilt brass mounts and lion mask ring handles. This wonderful clock set makes a magnificent display as you can see! Perfect country house chic! The A.D. Mougin movement is of the usual excellent quality, runs for 8 days and is in excellent, clean and running condition. The clock is complete with bell and an old replacement pendulum. The beautiful enamel dial has two faint hairlines from the 4 and 8 o'clock positions. Condition of the clock and candelabra is very good, the gilt finish of the brass is clean and bright - there is some very slight tarnishing/discolouration in some areas. The candelabra arms are slightly distorted and some of the arms have been re-attached at some point but are strong and the tip of one arm is missing. Condition of the porcelain bodies of the clock and the candelabra are also very good with a lovely faint antique surface crazing. There is a chip on the inside of the back door of the clock which can not be seen with the door closed and a small professional repair to the top of one vase, under the brass top (see picture below). There are one or two very minor marks to the surface of the porcelain. A stunning and unusual clock set ready for you to display!
