Superb Antique French Portico Clock set

A very decorative and good quality brass portico clock set. The movement is housed in a drum supported on 4 columns, with the pendulum swinging visibly below. The dial is made in the fashion of 18th century examples; a repousse work dial is mounted with enamelled cartouches, with the centre also being a cartouche. The style of the clock is gothic, the urn on top of the the clock mounted with winged mythical creatures and the medieval banners hang beneath the dial.

The set is complete with the suit if 3 gesso bases which we have restored and re-covered with red velvet and gold trim.

The high quality French movement runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell. It is in excellent, clean and running condition. Clock is complete with original sunburst pendulum, bell and key.

The finish of the brass is very good - bright and clean. There are some small areas of wear or discoloration. Condition of the enamel dial is very good - just a few a light chips next to the winding holes. Condition of the case is very good, no losses or damage. There are some small losses of gesso to the bases which are not noticeable.
