Japy Freres Rococo Clock Set

A stunning gilt brass clock set by the famous maker Japy Freres. The original gilding is in excellent clean and bright condition. Clock is lyre shaped in the style of Louis XV and top each side of the enamel dial is Goddess Nike, the winged goddess of victory. Below the dial are a bow and quiver of arrows and a laurel wreath, an allegory of victory. The clock is further decorated with floral swags and surmounted by an urn. Candelabra conforming and surmounted by 5 lights and are complete with matching snuffers. The back door of the clock is glazed with frosted glass.

The back plate of the movement has the Japy Freres mark and the retailers mark "Raison and Thomas"             

Japy Freres movement is of the usual high quality expected of this maker, it runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell.  It has been fully overhauled by our clock maker who has replaced the missing bell and pendulum. Click the movie below to hear the gong and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with good original gilding which is bright and clean. There are no losses to the case or candelabra. The dial has a couple of small and light cracks to the edge near the 3 o'clock position, see the pictures bellow.  

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
