Antique French Gilt Brass Clock Set

A Superb gilt brass clock set of very fine detail in the Baroque style. The clock is modelled with open fretwork of foliage with two stylised pillars of wing cherubs and a goddess beneath the dial. The dial itself is brass with individual enamel cartouches for each letter and is fitted with the original blued steel hands. The clock is surmounted by a swan neck pediment and an urn finial. The candelabra have conforming bases with a tapered square fretted central column and very delicate twisted arms for the candelabra. These are attached to the central column by winged cherubs. The candelabra are complete with the original reeded knop snuffers.

The French movement is of the highest quality, our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement - it is in excellent clean and running condition. We have replaced the missing pendulum. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the original gilding on the high spots and some slight discolouration or tarnish in one or two areas. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, just a light hairline on the number five. There is some very slight distortion to the candelabra. The clock looks great as you can see below!
