Stunning Rococo Antique French Clock Set, by Samuel Marti

This is a very decorative clock and candelabra set, beautiful Louis XV waisted shape with "C" scrolls, shells and floral swags. The set is very well modelled in gilt brass, original gilding has a lovely clean and bright finish. Dial is particularly pretty, cream enamel on copper with blue lettering and the front of the case is fretted which allows a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within the case.

The candelabra arms are delicately modelled as entwining foliage, standing above urns with 'c' scroll handles. The set is of very good quality with crisp, sharp and finely detailed modelling and the original gilding has a lovely clean and bright finish.

The movement is of excellent quality and is marked on the backplate for the clockmaker Samuel Marti. It runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is complete with original pendulum. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, some minor wear on the high spots. Dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted and one foot has been replaced. The set looks great as you can see in the pictures below!

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
