Huge Antique French Baroque Gilt Bronze Clock by A.D. Mougin ~ French - Circa 1900 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A very large antique French gilt bronze clock. It is in the Baroque style, architecturally shaped case decorated with acanthus and bold scrolls. The front is fretted with stylised mythical creatures allowing a glimpse of the pendulum swinging within.

The dial large dial is cream enamel on copper with convex glass fitted to the hobnail formed bezel. The original hands are finely cut and blued steel. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and is of the maker's usual high quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some tiny nibbles next to the winding holes. The original glass has some light scratches.
