Large Antique French Gilt Brass Clock

A beautiful, large antique French clock in excellent clean and bright condition. Style is Louis XV and the modelling is excellent with fine, crisp and detailed finishing. The clock features a waisted shape with an applied shield to the front, shell above the dial and hairy paw feet. The base is beautifully fretted with floral swags and foliage.

Dial is enamel on copper with a gilt brass centre and bezel and is complete with the original blued steel hands.

The French movement is of very high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The dial has some faint hair lining around the winding holes.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
