Superb Gilt and Sevres Style Porcelain Clock Set

A Large and stunning clock set, mounted with porcelain in the style of Sevres with a Pompadour Rose ground. The case of the clock is architecturally modelled with 4 Corinthian columns. In an allegory of love, two cupids peer around the columns at the Gentleman serenading his Lady on his lute. The left hand cupid has the arrow and the right hand carries the bow. Porcelain is very well painted with scenes and floral swags which are delicately executed. The young couple are depicted on each urn and then together on the front panel of the clock.

A D Mougin movement is of excellent quality, runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a large sonorous gong. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is complete with the original pendulum. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is very good. The porcelain is all in good condition with no chips or cracks. The over-glaze gilt decoration is worn. The gilding is worn and bubbling in places and looks superb. There are repairs to the feet of the clock and the foot of the small right hand cherub on the top and there is a small crack on the handle of one of the urns.
