~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Clockmaker - A.D. Mougin ~~ A very attractive table clock, featuring an elegant porcelain panel of a romantic scene - a young man courting his young lady before a ruin. The painting of the porcelain panel is particularly well executed - it is signed with the artists initials REW. The dial is also porcelain and is delicately decorated with a floral swag of roses. The porcelain lower plaque and the urn are decorated with country scenes with a blue ground. The case is decorated with floral swags and vines in typical French style of this period. The movement is of excellent quality and is by the famous maker A.D. Mougin. The movement runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell. Click here to watch the clock running! Click here to hear the bell strike! Condition of the the movement is excellent - we have cleaned and serviced the movement - it runs very well and keeps good time. Condition of the case and porcelain is very good. There are no chips or cracks to the porcelain - just some minor rubbing to the over glaze gold decoration. The gilt is bright and clean - some bubbling here and there as you would expect. We have polished the case with a little gilt wax. The movement has the original pendulum and bell. The serial numbers on the pendulum, movement and bezel all match. ~ Super looking clock for your home! ~
