Rococo Antique French Clock Set - Large and Superb.

This is a large and decorative clock and candelabra set, beautiful Louis XV waisted shape with "C" scrolls, shells and floral swags, very well modelled in gilded brass which has a lovely clean and bright finish. The front of the case is fretted to allow the pendulum to be glimpsed swinging inside the case and the back door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. Candelabra have matching Rococo bases surmounted by two handled urns, above which are the candelabra arms which are delicately modelled as entwining foliage.

Dial is particularly pretty, enamel on copper decorated with delicate floral swags.

The French movement is of excellent quality and is marked on the backplate for the clockmaker Societe Clusienne SCAPH Cluses. the dial is fully marked for the Paris retailer Schnerb. It runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. The rear door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is complete with a replacement pendulum. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish to the original gilding, some minor wear on the high spots. Dial is also in excellent condition with chips or scratches. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The set looks great as you can see in the pictures below!
