Antique French Clock Set - Superb

A Beautiful French gilt brass clock set in excellent condition. It is profusely decorated with foliage, floral swags and musical instruments. The front of the clock is delicately fretted to allow the pendulum to be just seen swinging inside the case. The dial is unusual, being constructed of 4 enamel on copper segments applied to a heavy gilt brass backing with a fretted centre. The modelling of both the clock and the candelabra is excellent, crisp and nicely detailed.

The French movement is of the highest quality and our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement - it is in excellent clean and running condition. We have replaced the missing pendulum. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the movie below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the original gilding on the high spots and some slight discolouration or tarnish in one or two areas. The enamel dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is some very slight distortion to the candelabra and to the finial of the clock. The clock looks great as you can see below!

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
