Antique French Onyx and Gilt Candelabra Four Glass Clock Set

A Superb four glass library or crystal regulator, with beautifully figured and shaped onyx, gilt brass mounts and the original mercury compensated pendulum. The clock is unusual in having a pair of matching candelabra, complete with flaming finial snuffers and sconces. 

The dial is enamel on copper and is decorated with delicate floral swags. The movement is by A D Mougin and is of good quality. It runs for 8 days and strikes half - hourly on a bell.

Condition of the case is excellent. The bevelled glass has no chips or cracks. The onyx is beautifully variegated - there is a slightly milky patch on the top which I think is naturally part of the stone, also a small piece missing 1/4" on the side of one of the candelabra bases in the middle looks like a natural fault in the stone. There is a tiny chip on the front of the base of the clock (very tiny). The onyx has an excellent polished finish, the gilt is slightly rubbed and dull in a few places, so does look antique. The dial as a small area of restoration at the 6 o'clock - see picture below. The movement is in excellent clean and fully running condition.

International shipping will be �95 by Air with insurance - Please note we can not send mercury by air freight - the tubes of mercury will be removed for international shipping. These can then be sourced locally and replaced. Alternatively we can supply a new mercury pendulum which you can fill with mercury.
