Antique French Gilt and Porcelain Clock Set - S Marti.

A Very pretty French Gilt metal and porcelain clock garniture set, porcelain is a lovely plum red colour and we have recovered the original bases in matching velvet. The clock itself is surmounted by a charming pair of goddesses and a porcelain urn, the porcelain panels and the dial are beautifully painted with flowers and wild birds and the dial is signed by the London retailer. The urns are superbly painted romantic scenes of a young couple and the lower panels are decorated with floral swags and birds to compliment those of the clock.

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of excellent quality. It runs for 8 days, striking half-hourly on a bell. The pendulum is a original and it is in excellent clean and running condition - click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is very good with some minor wear to the gilding and some bubbling in places, it is clean and bright and displays magnificently as you can see below. The porcelain is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches, just some wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration. The bases are also in good condition with a fresh covering of velvet to replace the original.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
