Stunning Gilt and Sevres Style Porcelain Table Clock

~ French - Circa 1870 ~

~~ Good Condition ~~

A very attractive table clock, featuring an elegant porcelain panel of a romantic scene - a young man with a lute, serenading a young lady before a ruin. The dial is also porcelain and is decorated with a floral swag. Each side of the porcelain urn has mythical winged birds. Swags to the side of the clock and hairy paw feet complete the decoration.

The movement is of excellent quality and is by the famous maker Japy Freres of Beaucout. The movement runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell.

Condition of the the movement is excellent - unrestored, clean and running. It runs very well and keeps good time. Condition of the case and porcelain is very good. There are no chips or cracks to the porcelain - just some minor rubbing to the over glaze gold decoration. The case is in very good condition. At some time the rear of the case has been repaired - this is hardly noticeable. There may be a small piece of decoration missing from each side of the case - again not noticeable only on very close inspection. The gilt is bright and clean - some bubbling here and there as you would expect.

A great find for the collector and a very decorative addition to your home!
