~ French - Circa 1880 ~ ~~ Good Condition ~~ A delightful gilt metal clock, depicting a cherub with a hunting dog. Very nicely detailed modelling of both the dog and the cherub. The clock stands on 'hairy paw feet' and has grotesque masks to the side of the case. The hunting dog is finely cast and has taken his master to a rabbit lying in the undergrowth. The movement is of excellent quality and is by the famous Japy Freres company. It runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell - click the links below for movies! Condition of the the movement is excellent, having been completely overhauled by our clockmaker. It runs very well and keeps good time. Condition of the case is very good. It is a very solidly constructed case of good quality. The gilt has mellowed with age and we have polished it with a little gilt wax. There is a small hairline crack to the right hand winding hole - otherwise the dial is perfect. The pendulum is a replacement faithful to the original. The clock is complete with bell, pendulum and key. Click here to watch the clock running! Click here to hear the bell strike!
A great find for the
collector and a very decorative addition to your home! |
