A large and beautiful clock set by Louis Japy, standing at 27 inches in height. Modelled in gilt brass, the set is profusely decorated, mythical creatures support the clock and the candelabra and the clock shows some Louis XV influence in its key hole shape and flowing floral and foliate decoration. Detail is fine and sharp and the front of both the clock and the candelabra are delicately pieced to lighten the design. Candelabra are complete with the original snuffers and the back door of the clock case is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

Dial is enamel on copper with a heavy cast brass centre and egg and dart bezel. Delicate blue steel hands are original.

Louis Japy movement is of excellent quality and runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. The pendulum is an old replacement. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, some wear on the high spots which has developed an antique patina. Dial is also in excellent condition with just a couple of faint hairlines and some slight nibbles round the winding holes. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
