Superb Antique French Clock Set

A beautiful antique brass clock set, of good size and gothic in style, modelled with swirling foliage entwined around columns and decorated with mythical creatures. To the sides of the clock case are brackets with a fleur-de-lys and dragons. These are repeated in the design of the candelabra bases. Clock and candelabra stand on cushion shaped bases which also have pieced foliate decoration. The design of the clock is pieced on three sides allowing the pendulum to be seen and the back door is glazed.

Dial is an unusual and heavy convex brass design mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouche letters.

The French movement is of excellent quality, runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. The Paris retailers mark is on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully cleaned and serviced by our clockmaker. The pendulum is a replacement. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, some very minor wear on the high spots and some minor tarnish / discolouration in places. Dial is also in excellent condition with no damage to the cartouches. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
