Beautiful Marble and Ormolu Clock Set

A chic and classical antique French clock set. It features a most beautiful figured specimen marble, orange, pink, terracotta in colour and specially cut to emphasis the light to dark banding of the material. It is mounted with ormolu in the classical taste of Louis XVI. The clock has half pillars to the sides with floral swags and is surmounted by a large marble urn. Candelabra are modelled with fancy foliage arms which sit upon reeded columns. The original snuffers sit in the candelabra as finials.

The dial is enamel on copper with delicate floral swags between the lettering and finely fretted gilt brass hands.

The French movement is by A.D Mougin and is of the makers usual high quality. Our clockmaker has stripped, cleaned and inspected the movement. After re-assembly we have tested it thoroughly to ensure trouble free running. We have replaced the pendulum. The movement runs for 8 days between winds and strikes the hours and half-hours on a bell. You can see the movement running and striking the bell in the video below.

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the marble. There are occasional light scratches and nibbles and an old, barely visible repair to one candelabra column. There is some very minor wear to the original gilding on the high spots. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
