Large and Stunning Gilt Brass Clock Set - Visible Pendulum.

A very finely detailed gilt brass clock set in excellent condition, much of the original gilding remains which is in lovely bright and clean condition. The style is Baroque. The clock movement is held aloft by cherubim forming the front pillars. The cherubim look back at two winged lions which are tethered. The pendulum is visible swinging below the movement between the cherubim pillars, pendulum is formed as a shield with lions rampant. Above the dial is a typical Baroque broken arch. The back of the top is fretted along with the base. The candelabra have conforming bases, above which four winged lions rampant support the four candelabra branches which are formed as stylised foliage. The candelabra are beautifully light and delicate in style, and the set is generally finely detailed and well finished.

The movement is of the highest quality and has the makers mark on the back plate. Our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement - it is in excellent clean and running condition. Pendulum is original with the movement serial number stamped on the rear. The dial is enamel on copper with a cast brass centre. This is in excellent condition with just a light hairline at the four o'clock position. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear to the original gilding on the high spots and some slight discolouration or tarnish in one or two areas. There is some very slight distortion to the candelabra. The clock looks great as you can see below!

Complete with original gilt brass shield pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
