Japy Freres Bracket Clock and Garniture Set - Large and Stunning.

This is a very good quality clock garniture by the famous maker Japy Freres. The set is classical in style with the clock architecturally designed as a bracket clock with four pillars enclosing panels of blind fret work. Inverted-bell top is also blind fretted and surmounted by an urn with a pair of mythical creatures. The superb dial has an engraved minute ring and is mounted with individual enamel cartouches for each letter. Above this is a goddess mask with an arch over. Candelabra have conforming bases with a vase above mounted with mythical creatures. The four branches are modelled as stylised foliage. This is a heavy, well made and finished clock set, modelling is bold and sharp with fine and well finished detail.

Japy Freres movement is of high quality and features a pin-pallet "dead beat" escapement and removable main spring barrels. Our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement - it is in excellent clean and running condition. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some wear and some slight discolouration or tarnish in one or two areas. There is some very slight distortion to the candelabra. Cartouche dial is excellent, no chips or scratches. The clock looks great as you can see below!

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
