Japy Freres Ormolu Table Clock.

A very chic and good sized French ormolu table clock by the famous maker Japy Freres. The clock looks stunning with very little wear to the original gilding which is exceptionally clean and bright. The dial is designed in the manner if Louis XVI examples with the individual enamel cartouches for each letter applied to a gilt background. It also has the retailers cartouche applied just below the 12 o'clock position. A classical urn surmounts the clock and masks are applied to each side of the case. The case is lightly styles of flowing foliage which is finely fretted.

The clock looks great from all angles and hence could be placed on a table or a mantle shelf. The back door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

Japy Freres Movement is of the highest quality and has the makers mark on the back plate. It has the superior rack striking and dead-beat escapement. Our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement - it is in excellent clean and running condition. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. The pendulum is a replacement. Condition of the case is quite stunning with just a couple of minor areas of wear to the original gilding. The gilding is clean and has an excellent finish and there is no damage to the dial.
