A superb Antique French Gothic clock by Japy Freres. The clock is beautifully made in brass - very heavy and crisply modelled. The brass has a beautiful, rich bronze patina, with wear to the high spots. The clock is decorated with lions masks, winged mythical creatures, hairy paw feet and banners.

The French Japy Freres movement is of excellent quality and has the better pin pallet dead beat escapement. The Japy Freres mark is on the back plate of the movement. The movement runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell.

Condition of the the movement is excellent, clean and running condition. The pendulum is an old replacement. Condition of the case and enamel dial is very good - no losses to the case - there are some minor blemishes and the colour of the case is very good and looks great as you can see below.

The clock comes complete with pendulum, key and bell!
