Antique Bronzed Metal and Marble Clock Set - Pastorale by Louis Auguste Moreau.

A super clock set depicting a muse of music playing a lute. She is beautifully captured by the sculptor. The base of the clock is signed by the artist on a plaque with the name of the piece "Pastorale" and the artists name "Aug. Moreau". The vases are in the form of classical ampoules and are decorated with cherubs and flaming torches. The clock itself is surmounted by flaming torches and a laurel wreath. The clock and vases are of patinated bronzed metal with the base of the clock and the vases of a variegated marble.

The dial is enamel and is decorated with a floral swag of delicately painted stylised flowers.

The French movement is of excellent quality, runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell. It the has the makers mark "JR" on the back plate of the movement. It is in excellent clean and running condition, having been cleaned and serviced by our clockmaker.

Condition of the case and the vases is excellent. The marble is clean and has just a few slight nibbles at the edges at the rear. The original patination is in good condition - there is some wear in places but this does not detract from the piece. The pendulum is an old replacement. The delicate steel hands and the enamel dial is in excellent condition - no chips or cracks to the dial.

The clock comes complete with pendulum, key and bell!
