~ Victorian - Circa 1860 ~ ~~ Excellent condition ~~ Superb French Ormolu clock depicting a Cherub playing with a butterfly. The Porcelain panels also show cherubs and are very nicely painted with blue ground. The clock is of superb quality and is by the French clockmaker Vincenti et Sie. The back plate is also signed by the Paris retailer Rollin. The case and the movement have the matching serial number 988. The clock runs for 8 days and strikes half hourly on a bell. Click here to hear the bell! The Movement is in excellent original, clean and running condition. The pendulum has been replaced with one of a good quality. The case is also in superb condition. The dial has a small area of damage and some hairline cracks just below the 9 o'clock which is only really visible with the dial bezel open. The case looks fantastic with good bright gilding. It may at some time have been re-gilded. The cherub has four holes in his back which could be from casting or perhaps something was attached. The cherubs finger has a small crack in it. The back door is glazed and the glass is in good condition. One screw is missing from the back. This clock is in excellent condition and is as we found it in a local country house.
A very decorative piece for your home! Dimensions: Height 11 1/2", Width 11 1/2", Depth 5". |
