Antique French Rococo Boudoir Table Clock Set ~ A. D. Mougin

A stunning original antique French clock set. It is of classic Rococo design, waisted keyhole shape with acanthus shoulders and a boat-shaped finial. It stands on it's original serpentine shaped base with 'C' scroll feet and the front of the clock has a fretted sound panel backed with red velvet. The three branches of the candelabra are modelled as entwined acanthus standing on round naturalistically modelled bases with three feet.

The design is beautifully bold and heavily moulded in gilded brass, well chased and finished. It is modelled in the round and so would display very well on a table.

Dial is a beautiful enamel on copper, with the hours in Roman numerals, and an Arabic minute ring. It is complete with its original delicately fretted brass hands and hobnail bezel, fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and has the A. D. Mougin mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition just some faint hairlines near the six o'clock. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.
