Large Antique French Gilt Brass Clock Set - S Marti et Cie

A large and stunning gilt brass clock set with excellent original gilding which is bright and clean. The clock set is beautifully modelled with an architectural form decorated with foliage and goddess pillars. Both the clock and the candelabra stand on their original integral bases. Dial is gilt brass with twelve applied enamel cartouche letters and fretted brass hands. This is covered by convex, bevelled glass.   

The French movement is by the excellent maker Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It runs for 8 days and striking on a bell. Our clockmaker has cleaned and serviced the movement, it is in full working order. The pendulum is an old replacement. Click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent, the gilding is excellent with just some small areas of discolouration or tarnish in places. It is bright and clean with no losses. Dial is also in very good condition with just a faint hairline on the six and four cartouches and some very small chips to the edges of some of the cartouches. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
