A superb Antique French Gothic clock by Japy Freres. The clock is beautifully made in brass, very heavy and crisply modelled and is decorated with lions masks, winged mythical creatures, hairy paw feet and banners. Four branch candelabra are conforming with a pair of winged mythical creatures with four branches above. The brass has a beautiful, clean and bright finish.

Dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre and is complete with the original blued steel hands. The back door of the clock is glazed with bevelled glass, allowing the movement to be seen.

The French Japy Freres movement is of excellent quality and has the better pin pallet dead beat escapement and rack striking. The movement runs for 8 days and strikes on a bell. We have replaced the missing pendulum with one faithful to the original design. Japy Freres mark is on the back plate of the movement. click the movie below to see and hear the movement working!

Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish and no losses. There are some very, very slight surface marks, tarnish / discolouration in places. Dial is also in excellent condition with no visible chips or hairlines. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
