Very Large Gilt Bronze Rococo Clock by Samuel Marti ~ French - Circa 1890 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A very large and stunning original antique French clock. Boldly and elaborately modelled in gilt bronze with sharp, crisp detail of asymmetric scrolls, acanthus and rocaille in the Rococo style. A heavy clock but with a lovely light flowing design. The front is fretted, allowing the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case.

The large dial is cream porcelain enamel on copper with blue hours and a separate minute ring. It is complete with finely cut gilt brass hands and the heavy Rococo bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is by Samuel Marti and is of high quality. It in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled and tested by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.
